Lewellyn “Lee” Gerard Schutz was born on June 16, 1967, to Merwin John and Joyce Lee (Heren) Schutz in Adrian, Minnesota. Lee was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and was baptized as an adult at North Love Baptist Church.

Lee attended Mahtomedi High School and graduated in 1985. He worked as a forklift operator at Toro in Windom. Throughout the years, he served as a union steward, auditor for the Local Union 1956, delegate to District 77, trustee and delegate to the AFL-CIO. His strong character and dedication were evident in the many leadership roles he held with the union.

On June 26, 1999, Lee married Rachael Katherine Long in Worthington, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with two daughters, Victoria and Valerie. Lee loved spending time with his wife and children and was known for being loving, supportive, and having a great sense of humor. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan who loved watching the games and always welcomed a monopoly or poker game.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Lee passed away at Windom Area Health, surrounded by the love of his family.

He will forever be cherished by his wife, Rachael Schutz of Windom; daughters, Victoria Schutz and Valerie Schutz of the Twin Cities; stepson, Vincent Long of the Twin Cities; siblings, Dawn Schutz of Worthington and Fred (Kari) Schutz of Windom; nephew, Andrew Schutz of Worthington; parents-in-law, Mike & Nancy Long of Bracketsville, TX; brother-in-law, Matthew Long; and his cherished pet, Butterscotch; as well as other relatives and friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Merwin and Joyce Schutz; sibling, Carlye Schutz; and sister-in-law, Heather Rose Long.

Blessed be the memory of Lewellyn “Lee” Schutz, who will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family, his loyalty to those he worked beside, and the strength and humor he brought to everyday life.
